The SPA has decided to adopt a new system issuing and renewing petanque licences and this is now in effect for 2017 licences. To remind you, you need an SPA licence to play in SPA competitions, as well as any overseas competitions where an international licence is required. The benefit of the new system is that you will receive a high quality, waterproof credit card type licence.

The process to apply for your new 2017 licence is very straightforward. Click on the link below and click on the Join Us/Renew button.

You will need to complete the application form and you will need to have a digital photograph already stored on your computer to upload into the database (which is suitable for ID purposes, i.e. a photograph of your head and shoulders, looking square on, with a neutral background). We may ask you to send a different photograph if the one you upload isn’t suitable.

Once your application is complete and approved, we will arrange for the new licence to be delivered. It takes around 3-4 weeks and it will be sent directly to you at your home address. The new licences will be valid from 1 Jan 2017 to 31 Dec 2017.

There is no cost for your first licence each year, but if you lose it and require a replacement, there will be a charge of £5.

You will be invited to renew your licence around 28 days before expiry of your current one (i.e. in early December each year). All you need to do is check your details remain the same and renew, or edit those details which have changed.
